It can be useful for trips where you lack experience. I often have
75-100 miles of choice as to where I fill up. Knowing which cities
feature better choices can be helpful for planning.

The variation is often more like $0.10 to 0.15 per gallon but still not
worth 10 miles out of the way. The difference will often occur for
stations right on the route.
