Barbara,
The Texas Dept. of Tourism has (or had) a very nice book, that featured many
of the highlights of the state, plus various routes to interconnect these
spots. I'd look to their Web site (Google will get you there), and request
their book. IIRC, mine (many years ago) came with maps of the various Metro-
areas, plus the state.
