My debit card has the Cirrus and Maestro logo
I know that works also as credit card (by sign and not by PIN), but I
never will use it in similar way.

OK. Thanks: I will do.

Not my case, mut some card here in Italy works in that way: they are
both debit and credit card.

Yes: mine works too, but I prefer the other card (VISA credit card), if
possible.

I never had happily problems with blocked cards.
Only first time I was there (1999), I forgot that my card worked outside
my bank ATMs only from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. European time and I had some
problem with time zone (card working only on the morning, EST: on the
afternoons and evenings the 'Please call your bank' message)!!!
Now my bank said that newer debit cards works worldwide 24/7: I hope
it's true.

Here in Italy I (and I think many other people) have an account on my
bank with only one option...
I can have (and I have) other DIFFERENT (on a, maybe, different Bank)
accounts e.g. for savings, with different option (no ATM or Credit Card
or Checks facility, but higher interest rates).
My 'normal' bank account give me two ATM Cards, and two revolving (I
don't like this way) Credit Cards (Mastercard branded) that I use only
rarely: both one for me and one for my wife.
I have others international credit cards (my main card: VISA from
British Barclay's Bank and another, that I keep as spare: Diners
supplied free from the Italian AAA) them are from banks that only supply
cards (not accounts) and montly (if used) they send me a bill/invoice
and directly charge my main account (on my own bank).
Thank you for your answers...
