Hi Piero
I'm not a New Yorker either. When I was there last year I
had a meal with a group at Harbour Lights, part of the Pier
17 complex. http://harbourlightsrestaurant.com/enter.html
Pricing looks reasonable by NYC standards, but it's not
cheap by mine or yours. The food was good and the location
excellent.
One of the advantages there is that there are also other
cafes and restaurants on the pier, and it's an interesting
place to wander around; there were also occasional street
performers. The restaurant has nice views of the city over
the water. http://tinyurl.com/2prw9t
However, you may need to be quick: http://tinyurl.com/2jck7w
One of the locals can tell you the best way to get there -
and whether it will still be there when you arrive:-)
Don't forget that a 15yo may actually prefer a hot-dog from
a street vendor and tickets to a concert or Broadway Show.
Check what shows will be on in August.
