All you can eat buffets are rare in New York. There are thousands
of restaurants in all price ranges but not buffets. They are not
a New York "thing".

There are many Korean restaurants just off Fifth Avenue, I believe on
and around 32nd Street. I believe in some of them you can prepare
some of the food at your table. This is authentic Korean food by
the way and the restaurants are heavily patronized by Koreans.

Chinatown is always a good choice for inexpensive and authentic
Chinese -- families can share several different dishes without
breaking the bank. And Chinatown is a real neighborhood as well
and so an interesting experience to visit.
