Take transportation to NYC's Greenwich Village. (Bordered by 14th
Street in the north and Houston Street in the South, The Westside
Highway in the west and Broadway in the East). Most places post their
menu on the street. Walk around take in the sights. Seventh Ave has
some good places to eat. Use your nose and your eyes. If it smells
good, it probably is... If it's busy that's a sign that the food is good
and they're doing something right.
I like Szazarac House on Hudson Street. The food is a mix of American
style and Cajun. The Jambalaya is hot, spicy and great. Manatus is a
place that's like a diner only a little bit better. They have a mix of
food styles, with there always being something Greek on the menu. I
think The Wok is still on Seventh Ave. It's a mix of oriental and
their own creations of meals that can be prepared in a Wok. Don't be
afraid to try something you may never have tried before like Thai,
Indian, or Mexican cuisine. Maybe your girl may have some ideas. No
doubt like most teenagers she's Internet savvy. Involve her in the
selection process. She may even enjoy the idea of walking in a
neighborhood with lots of restaurants until you all find something you like.
If she really likes Chinese, it might be fun to explore Chinatown and
select something there. You could even make a whole day of it. Explore
one neighborhood and do lunch, then explore another area and do dinner.
