2. 2 long uphill stretches. One has to exit Parmint valley as well.

Say what?!
First, outside Bishop is the Sherwin grade which goes from 4K to 7K ft.
in about 10 miles and is one of those boil over grades. Then a number
of smaller passes. Then the 8K ft. pass I want to say Deadman's summit.
Either way leaving Lee Vining is a 10K ft. pass or some number of 7-8K
and higher passes (fun in winter, one of those damaging a UC vehicle).

Nothing like a cooling system failure. Duct tape is your friend.

The real problem driving out of DV in high heat is what you think your
standard tires or your brakes are going to do in high heat and an emergency.
You may have certain preconceived notions about how rubber behaves.
