There are beautiful state parks in the area. Also, if you don't mind a
20-30 minute drive, go west to Watkins Glen and visit the Watkins Glen State
Park. There is a 30's era trail of a few miles that winds along the steep
narrow gorge by the cascading stream. At one point, it takes you behind a
water fall. There are stairways...it is not a wilderness trail... but it is
breathtakingly beautiful. After dark, they may be doing a laser light show
in the gorge showing the natural and human history of the area.
If you're in the area on a Saturday, definitely go to the Ithaca Farmers
Market. It is one of the best that I've ever been to. It's down by the
lake.
There are also Finger Lakes wineries in the region.
