There is no rule of thumb. This depends entirely on what type of items
you are shopping for. At least two states (New Hampshire and Delaware)
that I know of do not charge sales tax on consumer goods.
Probably the best method of shopping is to go online to a web site like
http://www.pricegrabber.com and see what turns up for the items you are
interested in buying. |
