The problem with Jamestown is that you may just be tempted to linger more
than planned.

You haven't told us which gate outside of which your lodging is. Sounds
like Big Oak Flat - the northern one. That is the only reason why Jamestown
makes sense given that you are leaving from San Jose.

If by chance that gate is Arch Rock - the western one, then I suggest taking
152 east to 59 north into Merced. Just north west of Merced proper is the
former Castle Air Force Base, where is located an extensive airplane museum.
