We enjoyed our Hawaii trip last year (3 islands) and stayed in Volcano
(in a B&B). I have a tripreport on my website (see sig).
Volcano national park was partly closed last week because of volcanic
activity... check websites for info. www.khnl.com has some reports and
clips to watch.
If possible take the 7 mile hike at the end of the road in Volcano NP
for a view of lava flowing into the ocean and don't make the same
mistake we did... stay a while after it gets dark, it a lot more
specatcular. We played it save and were already on our way back when
darkness fell and we could see the glow behind us.
Mauna Kea is also a 'must see'. Take the tour that takes you to the
top around sunset, you won't regret it!
