Someone else mentioned Albuquerque.

Last year, we took two weeks in January to wander from Denver, south through
Colorado Springs, Santa Fe, Taos, Albuquerque, Las Cruces, El Paso, Tucson,
Phoenix, and Yuma to San Diego. It was a great trip.

We got snowed in in Santa Fe and Taos (which is a great place to be snowed in!),
and iced in in Abq. Northern NM is *cold* in the winter. Once we got an hour
south of Abq, it started warming up, and was beautiful from then on..

The snowed-in days caused us to miss Flagstaff, unfortunately.
