Hi,
I'm planning to travel from New York to San Francisco by Amtrak over a
period of 3 weeks, during the last two weeks of November and the first
week of December. Besides New York and San Francisco I want to visit
some other cities along the track, at least Chicago, Denver, Glenwood
Springs and if time permits maybe some other places too. I read here
and there that Amtrak reservations have to be reserved as far before
traveling as possible. Now I am not traveling in peak season and I
only need a coach seat on the train (so no sleeper room). I prefer to
reserve the different legs along the track to be made say 1 or 2 days
before departure. How are the chances that I cannot buy a ticket
anymore because they're all sold out, or that ticket prices are
increased tremendously. I do not make a problem however if I have to
wait one more day for traveling if the actual day I want to leave is
fully booked. Is this a realistic way of traveling the Amtrak or do
you still recommend I have to reserve the tickets as soon as possible?
Hope someone has an answer!! Thanks in advance!
