I've had the same issue with AirTrain. My daughter and I had identical
cards, mine went through fine, her's claimed not enough money. The
attendant corrected it at the AirTrain station.

The Taipei Metro now has RFID tokens that are used for single rides,
with a card used for higher values. There was too much counterfeiting of
NYC subway tokens, but the RFID system would solve it, and it's faster
to pass the token over the reader than to swipe the card. |
