I have never used hotel's airport shuttle. Do they depart on regular/fixed
time, or on demand?

I have a 6am flight to catch in san francisco airport. I'm wondering if the
airport shuttle would drop me off around 4:30am or if I have to call a
cab/rent a car. I haven't booked a hotel so I can't call them to ask; I want
to know what the general practice is.
